What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of alternative healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. It involves the practice of channeling universal life energy (often referred to as "qi" or "ki") through the hands of a practitioner to promote healing and balance in the body, mind, and spirit. The word "Reiki" comes from two Japanese words: rei (meaning universal or spiritual) and ki (meaning life energy or vital force).

In a Reiki session, the practitioner lightly places their hands on or just above the client’s body in a series of positions. The belief is that this energy flows through the practitioner's hands into the client’s body, helping to restore the natural flow of energy, relieve blockages, and enhance the body's ability to heal itself. It is based on the understanding that when our energy is balanced, we are healthier, more relaxed, and more emotionally balanced.

Reiki is considered a holistic therapy because it addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of well-being. It can be used for stress reduction, pain relief, emotional healing, and promoting a sense of overall calm and relaxation. Some people also use Reiki as a complement to traditional medical treatments.

Reiki is non-invasive and typically does not require any form of physical manipulation, making it a gentle and relaxing practice. Many people report feelings of warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation during a session.
