Q & A

  • Why three months? Will I need to take herbs longer than three months?

Most of the time, patients seek out herbal medicine to help with chronic conditions that have been going on for a long time. It will take a few months for your body to adjust to the herbal medicine, and your custom formula will be modified or changed accordingly during the three months. Some conditions might be resolved within three months, and some may require a longer time.

  • Why do I need a custom-made formula?

In Chinese Medicine, formulas can include anywhere from 4 to 20 herbs, each serving a different purpose to fine-tune the formula to the patient’s specific imbalance. While your condition might be addressed with a specific formula, the modification of the dosages or adding or subtracting of herbs are needed.

  • How do I take the formula?

You can use either thermos or stove top cooking techniques, you can read Dr. Özben's blog post and watch videos about themhere.

  • Would the herbs interact with my western prescription drugs?

Please inform your practitioner about which drugs you are taking, they will be preparing your formula taking into consideration the drugs you are taking.

  • Is it safe to take herbs during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Both Dr. Özben and Dr. Ana are knowledgeable about which herbs to use and not use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. While some herbs are contraindicated to use, many herbs can be beneficial for women to take.
