Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years for many ailments. Its strengths include preventing disease and promoting natural healing. It is the art and science of inserting filiform needles into specific and carefully selected points on the body to influence the flow of Qi and to restore health. The needles used are extremely fine, pre-sterilized, single-use, and disposable.

Unlike hollow hypodermic needles, acupuncture needles are very gentle and are tapped into the body quickly for painless insertion. Once the needles are in place, you may feel a sensation of tingling, warmth, or heaviness at the insertion site which indicates the arrival of Qi at that point.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine has been practiced and documented for over 2,500 years. The substances used include mostly plant materials such as roots, leaves, flowers, or the whole plant.

One of the biggest differences between Western Herbalism and Chinese Herbalism is the use of formulas instead of single herbs. In Chinese Medicine, formulas can include anywhere from 5 to 20 herbs, each serving a different purpose in order to fine tune the formula to the patient’s specific imbalance.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort to facilitate healing. The purpose of moxibustion, as with most forms of Chinese medicine, is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of qi, and maintain general health.

Cupping

Cupping is a method of creating a vacuum on the patient’s skin to dispel stagnant blood and lymph, there by improving qi flow to treat respiratory diseases such as the common cold, pneumonia, and bronchitis. Cupping also is used on back, neck, shoulder, and other musculoskeletal conditions. Cupping can cause non-permanent red marks, swelling, and bruising at local areas for a few days to a week.

Massage Therapy

Deep Tissue Massage If you prefer to be disrobed while receiving your massage therapy experience, go for a classic Deep Tissue Massage. Disrobing facilitates the application of emollient for gliding strokes, which provide the representative pleasure of this form of body care. These treatments take Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release and Trigger Point Release, and integrate them all into one enjoyable bodywork session.

Tui Na Massage Along with qigong, herbs, and acupuncture, Tui Na Massage is one of the four main branches of Chinese traditional medicine. This clothes-on style of massage therapy utilizes techniques that disperse blocked energy in the body. As appropriate, Tui Na Massage can range from deep and physical to gentle and etheric; the muscles are stretched and kneaded while the nerves are calmed and nurtured.

Orthopedic Massage: Hendrickson Method If your priorities with massage therapy are about getting resolution from conditions involving chronic pain and/or soft-tissue injury, or if you simply prefer wearing comfortable clothing while receiving your massage, try an Orthopedic Massage: Hendrickson Method. Remaining clothed facilitates the more technical side of massage therapy. With clothes on it becomes possible to apply motion testing, frequent changes of position, stretches, and obtain measured results.
