Facial Acupuncture by Dr. Ilana
Facial gua sha has been everywhere lately, and for good reason. This time-honored practice supports lymphatic drainage, helping reduce facial puffiness and swelling while promoting clearer, brighter skin. With consistent use, it can soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and create a naturally lifted, sculpted look. When paired with a high-quality facial oil, the ritual becomes both therapeutic and deeply nourishing, boosting circulation, calming the nervous system, and enhancing inner radiance.
At the same time, its rise on social media has led to oversimplification, especially regarding cosmetic use. Facial gua sha is not simply about moving a tool across the skin; it is a nuanced practice in which angle, pressure, direction, and intention all matter. These subtleties help create meaningful, lasting results. As a practitioner of Chinese medicine, I approach this work with deep respect for its cultural roots and lineage. I am committed to honoring that tradition through precise, intentional technique and thoughtful education.
It has been a joy to incorporate facial acupuncture into my work at Felek. With advanced training through Michelle Gellis and the TOMA Academy, this has become an area of practice I feel especially passionate about. Facial acupuncture works on a deeper level, supporting collagen production, improving circulation, and addressing both cosmetic concerns and the underlying imbalances that may be reflected on the face. When paired with gua sha and facial cupping, it becomes a powerful and holistic approach to beauty that reflects the connection between inner health and outer glow.
If you are interested in learning how to incorporate gua sha into your own self-care ritual, I invite you to join me for my upcoming Whole Body Beauty: Facial Workshop. In this hands-on experience, you will learn the history and benefits of gua sha and facial acupuncture while developing the skills to safely and confidently practice these techniques at home. More than a beauty workshop, it is an opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and cultivate beauty from within.
The workshop will take place on May 20 from 6:30–7:30 PM. Space is limited, and registration is available through our website. I would love to see you there.
Come spend an hour reconnecting with your face, your body, and a more grounded relationship to beauty.
